L&R Soda Bar Announces ‘Fill The Window’ Toy Drive

Elkton’s L&R Soda Bar has announced its community toy drive “Fill The Window,” which begins Monday and will run through the month of November.

In what will be a partnership with the Todd County Family Resources and Youth Services centers, guests to the popular restaurant are encouraged to bring toys for the storefront window — which will then be donated to age-appropriate children for the holidays.

Those who donate will receive a free sundae in appreciation, and L&R Soda Bar manager Felix Diaz said the month-long event comes with a loving heart to give in the upcoming months.

Youth Services Center Coordinator Kelli Templeman notes the plan is to distribute the donated toys and gifts to students whose parents/guardians have signed up for the annual Angel Tree program. If those needs are filled, Templeman added they will contact local apartment complexes and churches to discover those in greatest need.

Family Resource Center Coordinator Sarah Evans said the successful Angel Tree program can’t exist without the generosity of Todd County’s citizens, and that there is joy in working with families who sign up for the needed assistance for their children during Christmas.

L&R Soda Bar is located at 43 Public Square and toys can be dropped off during normal business hours, which are 10:30 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and from 10:30 a.m.-9 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.

L&R Soda Bar is closed on Sundays.
