A Hopkinsville man was charged with assaulting his ex-girlfriend and breaking into her home Thursday morning.
Hopkinsville Police say 20-year-old Jacob Williams struck his ex-girlfriend with a broomstick on the legs then pushed her down and choked her.
After the altercation, he reportedly left and returned later and broke into the home and took her belongings.
Police say when they located Williams he was found to have marijuana in his pants pocket.
He is charged with fourth-degree assault, first-degree strangulation, second-degree burglary, and possession of marijuana.
