The City of Hopkinsville’s COVID-19 vaccine incentive program is up and running at the Christian County Health Department for unvaccinated residents.
Hopkinsville City Council approved the vaccine incentive program at its September 7th meeting by a 6-6- vote with Mayor Wendell Lynch breaking the tie by voting yes. City Council authorized the use of $100,000 of the American Rescue Plan Funds to cover a $100 payment to each of the first 1,000 newly fully vaccinated people with a Hopkinsville address which would also make them eligible to win one of ten $1,000 raffles.
According to officials with the health department, the $100 payment will not be provided at the initial visit but will be provided upon completion of the second dose or if receiving the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, a pickup time must be arranged. They say only those who start the series and become fully vaccinated at the Christian County Health Department are eligible.
Vaccines are available at the health department in Hopkinsville on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. with a break for lunch from noon until 12:40 p.m. Walk-ins are accepted.
In order to finish the vaccine series by October 31, health department officials say the last day for the first doses of the Moderna vaccine was Thursday, September 30, with the last day for the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine on October 7th.
