Hopkinsville Native Eugene Poole Jr. Named To UK Hall Of Distinguished Alumni

A graduate of Hopkinsville High School has been selected as a member of the 2020 class of the University of Kentucky Hall of Distinguished Alumni.

Eugene Poole Jr. serves as the jurisdiction executive and senior project executive of the Capitol Building in Washington D.C. His work as an architect includes Air Force defense initiatives and military construction projects. This comes after serving three tours of duty as a decorated officer in the U.S. Air Force.

His more recent government projects include the U.S. Capitol Dome Restoration Project, the design and construction for three Presidential Inaugural ceremonies, and the ongoing design and management of the new U.S. Capitol Visitor Center Exhibition Hall Museum.

Poole graduated from Hopkinsville High in 1978 and from Hopkinsville Community College in 1980. He has a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Kentucky in architecture.

He will be inducted into the 2020 UK Hall of Distinguished Alumni on Friday.
