Hopkinsville Parks & Recreation Preparing For Big Month Of Events

Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation is getting ready for a busy September with the final Sounds at 6 concert, Hoptown Half Marathon & 5K, and the Pennyrile Senior Games.

Parks and Rec Superintendent Tab Brockman says this Friday night will be the final Sounds at 6 with entertainment provided by the Jason Montgomery Band.

click to download audioHe says there will also be food trucks and beverages on site. The public is invited to come out, bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the food and music at Founders Square in downtown Hopkinsville.

Coming up next weekend, Parks and Rec Program Director Toby Hudson says the Hoptown Half-Marathon & 5K next weekend with an expo will get underway.

click to download audioHe adds there is still time to register for the Hoptown Half-Marathon and 5K and Wally’s Walkers with all proceeds going to a local non-profit organization.

click to download audioSo far, Brockman says the number of runners and walkers registering for Hoptown Half-Marathon and 5K is about the same as last year’s event.

The last week of the month, it’s the Pennyrile Senior Games for those who are 50 and older. Hudson says the senior games will be September 27-29 at the Sportsplex.
