Christian County Public Schools Awarded $10 Million Construction Commission Grant

When House Bill 556, Section 18 — supporting vocational education costs and vocational education centers across Kentucky — passed the General Assembly, more than 30 school districts across the Commonwealth applied for grants that could total up to $10 million.

Christian County Public Schools were one of nine districts to receive funding through this “School Facilities Construction Commission” — and were awarded the full $10 million.

Christian County Public Schools spokesman John Rittenhouse said the awarded monies will be put toward the construction of the new high school facility, which will certainly incorporate an inclusive approach with its Gateway Academy expanding to innovation and technology programming.

The state’s funding pool had developed criteria for school districts to meet, and accepted applications from July 1 through August 13.
