Man Injured When Truck Hauling Pigs Crashes On I-24

A wreck on Interstate 24 in Christian County led to several live pigs being released and an Indiana man being flown to a Nashville hospital Wednesday morning.

Christian County Sheriff’s deputies say an eastbound tractor-trailer driven by Joshua McClain of North Liberty was hauling live pigs when it overturned just east of the Pennyrile Parkway exit leading to several pigs getting out onto the interstate.

Authorities say McClain was severely injured in the crash and was flown to Skyline Medical Center.

An eastbound SUV driven by Ali Ali Ayad of Smyrna, Tennessee, that was behind the tractor-trailer then struck a pig on the interstate damaging his vehicle.

The crash happened just after 4 am caused the interstate to be shut down in the area for several hours.
