Beshear Lauds Dawson Springs Independent Schools On Mask Decision

Prior to Governor Andy Beshear’s executive order requiring it, more than 45 school systems across Kentucky elected to install mask mandates for inside of campus buildings — due to increases in COVID-19 positivity, and the spread of a Delta variant.

During Thursday’s “Team Kentucky” update, Beshear lauded one specific west Kentucky school district for making such a decision: Dawson Springs.

Hopkins County officials reported 75 new cases on Monday, 38 new cases on Tuesday and 24 new cases on Wednesday, as well as four COVID-19 related deaths in the last two weeks and a 13 percent positivity rate in the same span.

On Monday, the Hopkins County Health Department reported four infants had recently tested positive for COVID-19 infections.
