Berry Announces ‘Safe-cation’ Sweepstakes For Kentucky’s Vaccinated

While the “Shot at a Million” and free college tuition served as the first incentives for COVID-19 vaccination in Kentucky, officials have introduced a new deal for those willing to roll up their sleeves.

Announced during Thursday’s “Team Kentucky” update in Frankfort, Arts and Heritage Cabinet Secretary Mike Berry opened registration for a chance to be one of 30 winners who could earn a “safe-cation” at one of Kentucky’s 45 state parks.

The in-state travel incentive is available for those who have acquired at least one dose of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccination, or the single-dose option of Johnson & Johnson.

Berry noted while the Kentucky Parks system suffered economically during the opening stretch of the COVID-19 pandemic, several historic locations were able to stabilize — as Kentuckians sought out social-distancing options by camping, playing golf and securing getaways off the beaten path.

Those 18 and older are encouraged to apply online at tah.ky.gov. Winners will be announced between September 9 and October 7.
