UPDATE – Mask Requirement Announced For Christian County Teachers And Staff

Officials with Christian County Public Schools announced Monday afternoon that all teachers and staff in the district are now required to wear masks when at school or work.

Superintendent Chris Bentzel tells the News Edge the mask requirement for teachers and staff is due to an uptick of COVID-19 cases in the county and positive cases in the school district.

Bentzel says that staff being masked regardless of vaccination status is important because even those who are vaccinated can transmit COVID-19.

According to Bentzel, they have not yet made a decision as far as a mask mandate for students but highly recommend they wear a mask.

Meanwhile, Christian County Public Schools is hosting a free COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic for students, parents and community members age 12 and up. Officials say the Pfizer vaccine clinic will be conducted by Wild Health, Thursday afternoon, August 5th, from 3:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. in the Lyle Dunbar Gymnasium at Christian County High School. Vaccinations are by appointed only and all persons must be registered prior to arriving at the clinic. A link has been provided in this story to register for the time of your vaccination. Officials say a parental consent form must be completed for all person age 17 and under.
