Paducah NWS Seeking New Members for Weather-Ready Nation

The Paducah National Weather Service is asking local businesses, organizations, and churches to become a Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador.

Rick Shanklin, who retired Saturday as the warning coordination meteorologist, told the News Edge any local entity could walk alongside the local NWS office.

Shanklin added it’s easy to become an ambassador.

For more information, you can call the Paducah NWS office at (270)-744-6440.

The program does not send daily weather or hazardous weather updates. Instead, they send information you can use and share with your partners, customers, and stakeholders to help them with extreme weather planning. Information distributed through the program can be used in news stories, broadcasts, and other media you produce.

As a bonus of being a Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador, those Ambassadors in the NWS Paducah service area receive a seasonal newsletter, heads-up notifications when hazardous weather is expected in the coming days, and recognition on NWS Paducah’s social media pages upon joining the program.
