Woodall Observing One Week Review for Keyona Bingham Bond

During Wednesday’s session, Trigg County Circuit Court Judge C.A. “Woody” Woodall said he’s going to take another week to make a pre-trial decision for Keyona Bingham, who’s set for trial next month.

Indicted on two counts of second-degree manslaughter following the death of her two children in an April 7, 2020 house fire on Jefferson Street, public defender Mary Rohrer sought Woodall’s approval for some bond to be set — noting Bingham was a “low, low risk,” and that her release could help with trial preparations.

Commonwealth Attorney Carrie Ovey-Wiggins offered a counterargument, pointing to the seriousness of Bingham’s charges — alongside the fact she’s already had bond revoked when it was discovered she was under the influence of opiates at the time of the birth of her new child, which was in violation of her original bond release.

Rohrer added Bingham was willing to submit to an ankle monitor, and further recommended a $1,000 bond or a family surety.

Still, Woodall wanted more time.

Another pre-trial is set for August 11.
