Ellie Jolly left Cadiz as a member of the Class of 2011, hopes of one day returning to serve her hometown as a “Dr.” and “MD.”

On Thursday afternoon at the Trigg County Hospital Primary Care Center, the dream came full circle — when she signed her first professional contract alongside TCH CEO John Sumner, committing to join his staff in April 2022 following board certification in family medicine.

Currently in the middle of her final year of residency with UT-Nashville in Murfreesboro’s St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital, Jolly’s journey back to Cadiz is a winding tale — one that began on the hills of Western Kentucky University for undergrad and then on to the University of Louisville School of Medicine, where she finished in 2019.

Raised a University of Kentucky fan, she’s a Hilltopper at heart now who’s looking forward to working with family friends and her older sister, Mary Van Jolly-Naghtin, who’s currently an APRN at the Primary Care Clinic.

When Jolly arrives, she said she’ll be focused on outpatient medicine four days a week for Primary Care, typically managing chronic pain, annual health checkups for things like hypertension and diabetes, as well as preventative medicine, adult care and general health and wellness.

She’s hoping to eventually parlay her skill-set into a specific contract with Trigg County Hospital for hospital medicine…something she’s currently performing at her residency at St. Thomas Rutherford, and something she’s not ready to put in the rearview mirror.

There’s also a strong desire to promote and provide women’s health care in Cadiz, while also touching on orthopaedics and basic dermatology.

Sumner said this contract has been in the making for “quite some time,” but specifically started to take serious shape within the last six months.

Jolly is the daughter of Scott and Ellen, and also has a brother, Jay, who is a doctor of physical therapy and a clinic director for ProRehab, PC in Owensboro.
