Kentucky Corrections Seeking to Fill 100 Jobs in Caldwell, Lyon Counties

Last Thursday’s “ComeBack Job Fair” at the James Bruce Convention Center in Hopkinsville brought light to more than 2,000 job opportunities in the west Kentucky area.

Of those careers, 100 —or nearly 5 percent —were options within the Kentucky State Penitentiary in Eddyville and the Western Kentucky Corrections Complex in Fredonia, two locations near to Princeton and Caldwell County.

A’Neial Bell, HR Administrator Institutional for the KSP, notes there is more than just a need for correctional officers. All levels of personnel infrastructure are being hired at this time.

Jobs include holidays, health insurance, life insurance, annual vacation leave, sick leave, voting leave, court leave and military leave if needed, with correctional officer pay starting at $30,000 a year with a 5 percent kick after completing six months on the job. A 401K similar retirement option is also available.

While the application process is strictly online, Bell added that in-person discussions at last week’s job fair brought a more comfortable touch to something that’s been more static during the last 18 months due to the pandemic.
