Trigg Magistrates Approve 2021-22 County Budget

Trigg County magistrates approved the 2021-22 budget and reduced the speed limit for a county road during their Monday evening meeting.

County Treasurer Lucy Oliver Kyler presented the second reading of the $13.3 million budget, which featured two changes.

The approved budget features nearly $6 million for the general fund, while the road department’s budget is just shy of $2.6 million and the sheriff’s department budget is just over $1 million.

A summary of the budget can be found at the bottom of this story.

Magistrates are also in the process of approving budget amendments to the 2020-21 budget, which involves the CARES Act and ARPA Act funding that came in to help the county with COVID-19 expenses. The unbudgeted funding totaled nearly $2.1 million.

In other action, magistrates unanimously approved reducing the speed limit on Beech Springs Road from 55 mph to 35 mph along the entirety of the 1.4-mile road. Trigg County Judge/Executive Hollis Alexander said magistrate Barry Littlejohn brought the request to lower the speed limit to the court about 6 weeks ago.

Magistrates also approved a bid from All Interiors of Cadiz to replace the roof on the Trigg County Road Department shed, with an estimated cost of $44,844.
