Planning for Black Patch Heritage Festival Continuing

Planning continues for the Black Patch Heritage Festival scheduled for Saturday, September 11 in Princeton.

After COVID-19 forced the cancellation of the 2020 festival, Princeton Optimist Club member George Kilgore said they are already in the planning stages for the 2021 event.

click to download audioEven though the state has announced most COVID restrictions will lift next week, Kilgore said the festival will follow any state and CDC COVID guidelines.

click to download audioKilgore said booth vendors need to contact festival organizers to ensure getting a space with electricity.

click to download audioHe added store owners can choose to have the booth space in front of their business for their own use or to make an opening to their store.

The first Black Patch Tobacco festival was held in 1937 and drew an estimated 10,000 people to downtown Princeton for the five-day event.
