Christian County Magistrates Approve Broadband Services Agreement

Christian County magistrates approved an agreement Tuesday with Pennryile Electric and Hopkinsville Electric System to begin the process of expanding fiber broadband internet access to almost every home and business in the county.

The court heard about the project, gave approval for the agreement, and committed $13 million for the project.

Magistrate Rich Liebe thanked Amy Frogue and the Pennyrile Area Development District for helping to cultivate the partnerships to expand fiber services.

Liebe added the expansion of internet needs to be completed as soon as possible.

Frogue told magistrates Trigg and Todd County officials are working on similar projects to expand internet services.

Judge/Executive Steve Tribble said they are hoping to get some grants and other funding to cover the $13 million commitment.
