Trigg County Class of 2021 Partake in Traditional Graduation

The Trigg County High School Class of 2021 that dealt with many Zoom classes, mask mandates, social distancing requirements, and other unusual events got to celebrate with a little normalcy Monday night.

The 138 member class, with 23 honor graduates, walked across the stage in the Trigg County High School Gym like many other classes before, on time, without a COVID-19 delay.

Former Assistant Principal Tim Bush told the class not to spend another minute fretting about what they did not get.

Parker Smith

The Salutatorian Address was given by Parker Smith, who said she’s not sure if they fully understand the historical moment occurring. She added change is a constant in this world.

Caden Burcham

During the Valedictorian Address, Caden Burcham turned to his dad, former principal Shannon Burcham, for his speech. Burcham shared that every member of the Class of 2021 has control over what they will do next.

D’Aria Barbee

Burcham and D’Aria Barbee were awarded the Wildcat of the Year awards to honor their school spirit. The Clyde Doyle Award, given a student who overcame great difficulty, was presented to Logan Mayo.

Before the 2021 commencement, the Class of 2020 had the chance to participate in a “normal” graduation ceremony one year later since the COVID-19 pandemic took away their traditional service. Thirty-four students participated, with Salutatorian Cade Bleidt, Valedictorian Mallory Finley, Gatton Academy student Alexander Perry, and Bush all speaking during the ceremony.
