No Bond Decision Made in Trigg Manslaughter Case

Keyona Bingham

A Trigg County woman facing two charges of manslaughter for the deaths of her young children will remain in the Christian County Jail following action in Trigg County Circuit Court Wednesday.

During the appearance, public defender Mary Rohrer asked if Judge Woody Woodall could set a bond for Keyona Bingham.

However, Commonwealth’s Attorney Carrie Ovey-Wiggins said they were opposed to a bond being set.

Judge Woodall deferred on making a decision concerning bond until the next court appearance of July 14. That date will also serve as a pretrial conference for Bingham, scheduled to go to trial on August 24.

Bingham was ordered to return to jail on March 10, after Judge Woodall learned that she was under the influence of opiates at the time of the birth of her child in January, which was a violation of her bond release.

A Trigg County grand jury indicted Bingham on two counts of second-degree manslaughter. The charges stem from an April 7, 2020 house fire on Jefferson Street that killed Bingham’s children, three-year-old Kamari Harris, and seven-month-old Ky’nylee Harris.
