Cotthoff, Westerfield Named To Attorney General’s Search Warrant Task Force

Christian County District Court Judge Foster Cotthoff and state Senator Whitney Westerfield have been selected to serve as members of the Attorney General’s Search Warrant Task Force.

Attorney General Daniel Cameron announced the names of the twenty individuals selected by groups that are involved with or are affected by the search warrant process. The representatives include members of the judiciary, legislators, law enforcement, prosecutors, the Public Advocate, local officials, an NAACP representative, and citizen members.

Cameron formed the Search Warrant Task Force by Executive Order and charged the group with reviewing the search warrant process in Kentucky. The task force will develop best practices for the effective and safe execution of search warrants in the Commonwealth with the goal of establishing the state’s search warrant process as a national model.

Attorney-General Cameron says he hopes is that the group’s review of Kentucky’s search warrant process will improve public safety by ensuring that the state utilizes best practices when securing and executing search warrants.

Judge Cotthoff serves the 3rd Judicial District and will represent the Kentucky Court of Justice.

State Senator Westerfield serves the 3rd District and will represent the Senate Judiciary Committee.
