Christian County magistrates unanimously approved Tuesday two incentive packages for businesses that may expand soon.
South Western Kentucky EDC Director Carter Hendricks said both projects ask for the typical incentive package of a 90-percent refund of property taxes for 15 years.
Steve Wilson, Plant Manager for Brazeway in Hopkinsville, told magistrates they could start ‘Project Astro’ soon.
Wilson added they are in the final phases of qualifying their product with customers.
Hendricks said the other possible expansion, being deemed ‘Project EZ’ – the business name was not released during the meeting, could open in an existing building and invest over $5 million in the community.
The company in question is a light manufacture of wheelchair ramps accessibility parts and components.
The company is looking to possibly move to Hopkinsville as part of a consolidation and relocation from Washington state.
In other action, magistrates approved Roger Guinn, of Cadiz, as the next electrical inspector in Christian County. Judge-Executive Steve Tribble said many of their current inspectors come from nearby counties, and the county sometimes seems to face a shortage of them.
Guinn is the owner of Roger Guinn Electrical Inspections, LLC, and he has over 20 years of experience as a master electrician and electrical contractor.
