Hopkinsville Man Swallows Drugs During Pursuit

A Hopkinsville man was charged after he reportedly ran from police and swallowed drugs on Walnut Street Tuesday afternoon.

Hopkinsville Police say they attempted to stop 42-year-old Robert Calvin for an active probation warrant and he dropped his bike and fled on foot. Calvin was located and continued to resist arrest but officers were able to get handcuffs on him. After being arrested police say a small bag of meth was found in his pocket.

After Calvin was taken to the Christian County Jail he reportedly told jail staff he had swallowed 3 grams of meth, 5 Oxycodone tablets, and 4 Xanax tablets as he was running from police.

He is charged with second-degree fleeing or evading police, possession of meth, resisting arrest, and tampering with physical evidence.
