Caldwell School Board Names New Superintendent

New Superintendent of Caldwell County Schools Jeremy Roach

The next superintendent of Caldwell County Public Schools was named during a special called school board meeting Monday night.

Board members unanimously selected Jeremy Roach, who previously served as principal at Union County Middle School for six years and has served as the Assistant Superintendent at Union County Public Schools for the last three years.

Roach told the News Edge he is excited to be selected for the superintendent position in Caldwell County because it allows him to impact teachers and students.

Roach says his goals as the superintendent are to continue to capitalize on the strengths of the district and continue to focus on the students.

Roach, who currently lives in Madisonville, introduced his wife and two children to those on hand at the special called meeting and said they plan on moving to Princeton and are looking forward to being a part of the community.

The school board started taking applications for the superintendent position at the end of November 2020 and received nineteen applicants, which the screening committee narrowed down to five candidates in January to present to the board. The board then met several times and conducted interviews before making their final selection.

Roach will begin his new duties on July 1, 2021, after the board approved a four-year contract with an annual salary of $120,000. He replaces interim Superintendent Heath Cartwright who has served in the position since September 1, 2020, after being chosen by the school board following the retirement of Nate Huggins. Cartwright will continue to serve as interim superintendent until June 30th.
