A joint investigation by sheriff’s departments in Trigg and Christian counties led to the arrest of a Cadiz man Thursday on drugs and weapons charges.

According to Trigg County Sheriff Aaron Acree, law enforcement was conducting an investigation into stolen property at 2651 Cerulean-Hopkinsville Road around 11 am and found 46-year-old Eric Powell hiding in the residence.

Acree said Powell was in possession of meth and was attempting to hide a handgun because he knew he was a convicted felon.

Acree charged Powell with first-degree possession of a controlled substance and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.

Powell was also charged by Christian County authorities with possession of a handgun and a firearm by a convicted felon; possession of a controlled substance; possession of marijuana; theft under $10,000; and two counts of receiving stolen property under $10,000.
