Beshear Reports State Positivity Rate Declines Again Monday As Vaccinations Increase

Governor Andy Beshear announced the number of residents and staff in nursing homes infected with the coronavirus continues to decline, as well as the new cases and deaths related to the virus.

Beshear said Monday was an amazing day with only two new active cases reported among residents at long-term care facilities.

click to download audioAs of Monday morning, Beshear reported more than 1.1 million residents had received at least their first COVID-19 vaccination.

click to download audioThe governor also said the number of cases in the hospital, in ICU, and on ventilators is also declining with only one medical facility’s hospital capacity in the state in the red. He reported 434 cases are currently hospitalized, 95 are in ICU, and 63 are currently on ventilators.

Governor Beshear also announced 294 new COVID cases Monday and eleven new deaths, which he noted did not occur this month and are part of the audited deaths.

The state’s positivity rate on Monday was at 2.93 percent.
