The Lyon County Sheriff's Office has charged an Eddyville woman with animal cruelty charges in connection with last week's discovery of several dead and malnourished horses.
50-year-old Sara Kelly was arrested Friday afternoon on a warrant charging her with 16 counts of Second-Degree Cruelty to Animals, which is a Class A misdemeanor.
Sheriff Brent White said his department investigated a complaint of three dead horses and 13 malnourished horses at a home in southern Lyon County last week. The surviving horses were rescued and are being care for by A&A Horse Haven.
