New Attorney For Old Rocky Point Road Murder Suspect

A change of attorneys for the Cadiz man accused of murdering a Powderly man on Old Rocky Point Road in August means another pretrial conference date has been set in the case.

Montie Streeval and his new attorney Bill Deatherage appeared virtually before Judge C.A. Woodall in Trigg County Circuit Court Wednesday afternoon. During the appearance, Deatherage asked for another pretrial conference, so he has time to go over the evidence in the case.

Judge Woodall set a new court appearance date of April 14.

Kentucky State Police charged Streeval with murder and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon in connection to the death of Cameron Phillips. An autopsy revealed Phillips died from a single gunshot wound to the head.

State Police Detective David Dick said during a preliminary hearing, Streeval had picked up Phillips for an alleged drug deal and drove to Cadiz on July 28.

Phillips’s body was found in a wooded area near a cemetery on Old Rocky Point Road on August 6. Dick said Streeval was familiar with this area and had denied committing the crime.

Streeval remains lodged in the Christian County Jail.
