Two Rescued After Driving Into Flooded Roadway

A man was charged with disregarding a traffic-control device after driving into high water in Hopkinsville, trapping him and his wife Sunday night.

Christian County emergency personnel say two people had to be rescued from their truck after attempting to drive through high water on East 9th Street near Christian Quarry Road. Firefighters were able to get them both out of the passenger side window and walk them to safety.

The driver 67-year-old Dale Lisembee of Crofton reportedly drove around the barricades blocking the road. He is charged with disregarding a traffic-control device.

Authorities say they were also called to Fort Campbell Boulevard in the area of Masonville overpass and Stokes Chapel Road in Todd County for people trapped inside their vehicles but they were able to get out before emergency personnel arrived.
