State Of Emergency Issued For Flooding in Calloway County

Governor Andy Beshear declared a state of emergency Sunday evening due to extremely heavy rainfall across the commonwealth that fell through the weekend.

Governor Beshear said the entire state received heavy rainfall over the weekend, with a total of 13 counties and cities declaring states of emergency, including Calloway County.

The Kentucky Division of Emergency Management State Emergency Operations Center is activated and monitoring county emergency services agencies’ reports.

Beshear added by declaring the state of emergency; state resources can be mobilized and ready to support the communities who need it most.

The Kentucky National Guard has also been activated and is responding to assist with high water emergencies.

The governor urged everyone to follow all flooding safety tips, including to turn around when encountering flooded roadways.
