State to Allow Visitation At Some Long-Term Care Facilities

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear announced Thursday that visitation can resume at some long-term care facilities in the state.

He said non-certified facilities, that include long-term care, assisted living, and independent living locations that have completed the full vaccination process will be able to resume visitation.

click to download audioBeshear said the state is waiting on guidance from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services on other long-term care facilities in Kentucky that are not part of the relaxation of visitation guidelines.

click to download audioThe governor also said group activities and communal dining inside those facilities among residents can resume.

click to download audioAdam Mather, who serves as inspector general for the cabinet for health and family services, said some criteria need to be met before going to see people in the long-term care facilities, including scheduling a time to avoid overcrowding.
