Roads Much Improved As Crews Preparing For Winter Storm

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet crews in District One will rest up over the weekend and get their equipment ready for a winter storm expected Sunday night.

Spokesman Keith Todd tells the News Edge many of their roads are looking much better than they did Friday morning. He adds some crews will be back in the region Saturday to clear up any additional ice from re-freezing overnight Friday.

A majority of the work for crews Saturday will be maintenance on equipment.

Todd says the chemicals and salt they use to clear up roads will only work when temperatures are above 20 degrees, so crews’ efforts could be ineffective over the weekend.

Motorists are still advised to use extreme caution when traveling through the weekend.
