Governor Threatens Legal Action if Legislature Overrides His Vetoes

The top legislative Republicans have told Governor Andy Beshear that lawmakers this week will consider overriding vetoes to bills that limit his authority to issue emergency orders during the COVID-19 pandemic. Beshear, who is a democrat, said he will respond with legal action if the vetoes happen.

House Speaker David Osborne and Senate President Robert Stivers informed the governor of their plans in a letter that was a response to Beshear’s suggestion for potential compromises.
