Trigg Reports Positive COVID Test in Middle School

A Trigg County Middle School student has tested positive for COVID-19 according to the school district.

A release from Superintendent Bill Thorpe said the district began extra deep cleaning and sanitizing procedures throughout the entire school and adhered to guidelines set by the state.

He added the Trigg County Health Department has begun the contract tracing process and will notify any parent or student if they have been in close contact with the student and need to be quarantined or tested.

According to the state’s COVID-19 data reporting website, eight students and two staff members have tested positive for COVID-19 this week with 67 students in quarantine for coming into contact with a positive case. Wednesday’s case is the first this week involving a middle school student.

Thorpe said the school will continue to clean and sanitize all areas of the school multiple times throughout each day.
