Two Hopkinsville residents facing charges in connection to a murder on North Kentucky Avenue in October will appear for another pretrial conference in March.
Larayna Manning and her son Anthony Manning face various charges connected to the death of Calvin Taylor. Both appeared virtually from the Christian County Jail Wednesday afternoon before Christian County Circuit Court Judge Andrew Self.
Larayna appeared with her public defender Jason Pfeil, who told Judge Self he needed more time to look at the evidence in the case.
Judge Self told Pfeil, Larayna’s bond has been addressed several times, and he would not be changing it.
Anthony Manning appeared immediately after, where his defense attorney Shannon Powers told Judge Self he also needed additional time to look at evidence from the case.
The Christian County Grand Jury returned indictments for both mother and son on December 18. Larayna Manning is charged with murder and first-degree robbery, while her son is charged with a complicity charge to murder and first-degree robbery.
Hopkinsville Police said both went to Taylor’s residence on October 13, physically assaulted him, and stole his cell phone. Larayna Manning then reportedly shot Taylor multiple times, causing his death. Anthony Manning allegedly drove his mother to Taylor’s home and away from the residence after his death.
