Trigg County Teachers And Staff Receive First Dose Of Vaccine

Teachers and staff members at Trigg County Public Schools received their first dose of the Moderna vaccine Thursday morning.

Superintendent Bill Thorpe tells the News Edge, every staff member that wanted the vaccine received it, as it was optional.

The Trigg County Health Department distributed the vaccines.

Thorpe says things are going well since they returned to in-person instruction last week.

Last week, some staff members presented a letter to the board of education during their meeting. The letter was read by District KEA Representative Brian Parker, who said some teachers were upset by Thorpe’s leadership and how the district has handled heading back to the classroom.

Thorpe says there are many unknowns concerning the pandemic, but he feels they are doing everything they can to keep students and teachers safe.

Thorpe adds students should be in the classroom, as there is a learning gap when they are doing work from home. He assures parents the district is looking at data daily to determine the right thing to do each week.
