Beshear Encourages Kentuckians To Light Homes Green To Honor Simone Parker

Governor Andy Beshear encourages all Kentucky residents to light their homes green Monday night to honor a Trigg County High School science teacher who passed away due to complications from COVID-19 earlier this month.

Beshear announced they would be lighting the state capitol building green to honor Simone Parker and others who have lost their lives to COVID-19.

Beshear encouraged everyone to continue to pray for Parker’s family, students, and colleagues.

Monday afternoon, the state reported over 2,000 COVID-19 cases Monday, as well as 21 new deaths.

Beshear announced 2,085 new cases, which raised the state’s positivity rate to 12.35-percent. Of the 21 deaths announced, five were from long term care facilities, and all were from the second half of December.

The state also reported 119 red counties on the incidence rate map. The only county not in the red was Hickman.
