Hopkinsville Man Pleads Guilty To Federal Counterfeiting Charges

A Hopkinsville man arrested a part of a counterfeit money ring last year has entered a guilty plea in federal court to the charges stemming from his indictment.

25-year-old Jason Tyler Godsey entered the plea in Paducah and could face up to 20 years in prison and a maximum fine of $250,000 in real money.

Godsey and three other Christian County men were arrested in October of last year after Godsey used counterfeit $20 bills to pay for a PlayStation and two games from someone on Facebook Market.

When police went to his home, they reported finding 37 fake bills and a printer.

The federal charges said Godsey printed and used the counterfeit cash and distributed it to several people who also attempted to use the fake money in transactions.

Three other people were charged in Christian County Circuit Court.

Godsey is scheduled to be sentenced in federal court on April 8.
