Governor Says Moderna Vaccine Is Coming This Week

Governor Andy Beshear shared even more good news Sunday afternoon in the battle against COVID-19.

In his daily statement, Beshear said the state received the final authorization necessary for the Moderna vaccine. He added that the second vaccine should arrive in the state either Monday or Tuesday and be administered immediately.

As of Sunday afternoon, the governor confirmed 1,765 new COVID-19 cases and 26 additional deaths. The deaths included a 92-year-old man and a 94-year-old woman from Hopkins County, a 95-year-old woman from Muhlenberg County, and an 88-year-old woman from Todd County.

The state’s positivity rate rose to 8.73-percent. Currently, 1,607 residents are hospitalized with the virus, while 403 are in the ICU and 226 are on the ventilator.
