Thomas Optimistic for New Legislative Session

State Representative Walker Thomas says he is looking forward to tackling important issues in the legislative session that begins Jan. 5.

During Monday’s Pennyroyal Area Development District annual legislative update, Thomas said he will be looking into the billboards that have sprung up along Interstate 24.

Thomas was again named as chair of the Veterans and Military Affairs Committee and said they stayed busy over the summer looking at COVID-19’s impact on veterans, religious freedom during a pandemic, and others.

He added they are looking to pass several military-focused bills next year, including tax exemption on military pensions.

Thomas said they will be looking for a solution to the increase in unemployment insurance.

Thomas represents District 8, encompassing portions of Trigg and Christian counties in the Kentucky House of Representatives.
