Murder and Carjacking Suspect Arrested in Madisonville

A Hardin County man wanted in connection to a carjacking and murder in Louisville was arrested in Hopkins County over the weekend.

U.S. Attorney Russell Coleman says 20-year old Ashton Clay Nally, of Vine Grove, was taken into custody in Madisonville Sunday afternoon.

According to the criminal complaint, Nally was wanted for shooting a man three times during a carjacking at a home on Crittenden Drive in Louisville on November 23.

During the police investigation, officers obtained surveillance video that shows an unknown individual approaching the victim and they are overheard arguing. Police said three shots were then heard and the victim fell backwards into the roadway. The unknown individual then got into the driver’s seat of the victim’s vehicle and fled the area at a high rate of speed. Police reportedly located the victim’s car nearby after it crashed into another vehicle.

Coleman says police received a couple of anonymous tips that identified Nally as the shooter. One of the tipsters said Nally admitted that he killed the victim during the carjacking.

According to Coleman, the federal carjacking charge carries a maximum sentence of death, a fine of $250,000 and no more than three years of supervised release.
