Kentucky Reports Over 2,500 New COVID-19 Cases Sunday

Governor Andy Beshear announced Kentucky surpassed 200,000 COVID-19 cases exactly nine months since the state’s first reported case.

On Sunday, Beshear confirmed 2,567 new cases and 10 deaths. The positivity rate is now 9.75-percent. There are 1,673 people hospitalized across the state, 401 in the ICU, and 214 on the ventilator.

All 10 deaths confirmed Sunday were from central or eastern Kentucky, including two each in Fayette and Jefferson counties.

Kentucky Health Commissioner Dr. Steven Stack said everyone must make good decisions every day and protect fellow Kentuckians by wearing masks, practicing social distancing, and staying home if sick. He added doing so will save lives and that it won’t be easy, but Team Kentucky is strong and supportive.
