Health officials in Christian County are concerned about the current trend of COVID-19 cases in the community, as the health department confirmed more COVID-linked deaths.
Beth McCraw, Chief Nursing Officer from Jennie Stuart Health, said Wednesday afternoon they currently have 23 COVID-19 positive patients.
McCraw added over the weekend; the hospital saw a record high amount of active COVID-19 cases.
Christian County Health Department spokeswoman Amanda Sweeney said with the current trend, the county sees an increase of about 45 cases a day. She added the White House report stated we are in a very dangerous place.
The White House report also had some other guidance.
The department reported 41 new cases and three additional deaths Wednesday afternoon.
Sweeney said a 90-year-old African American female, an 84-year-old Caucasian female, and a 78-year-old Caucasian female, were the latest deaths and all had underlying health conditions. In all, the county has reported 49 deaths since mid-March.
Sweeney added the county has 541 active cases with 303 between the ages of 22 and 59 and those between the age of 60 and 84 reporting 150 active cases.
