Trigg Primary & Intermediate Students Not Returning to Class Next Week

Officials from Trigg County Public Schools have announced students in the primary and intermediate school will not return to the classroom next week.

Community Education Coordinator Sarah Elliott said due to the significant increase in positive COVID-19 cases over the last week, school leaders decided it’s best for the health and safety of those students and staff to remain virtual through December 11.

Elliott added officials would look at positive case numbers again next week to decide if students should return to the classroom the week of December 14.

Superintendent Bill Thorpe said they want students to be on campus with teachers, but the cases are too high to allow for it, and the health and safety of everyone is the number one priority.

According to Governor Andy Beshear, students at Trigg County Middle and High schools will not return to in-person instruction until January 4.
