Fort Campbell Gearing Up to Receive COVID-19 Vaccine

Fort Campbell may be among one of the first places to receive a COVID-19 vaccine when everything is approved for one and distribution starts.

Blanchfield Army Community Hospital (BACH) Commander, Colonel Patrick Birchfield, said that a vaccine is almost ready during a town hall Tuesday night.

101st Airborne Commander Major General Brian Winski added it’s an honor that the military could be used to help distribute the vaccine.

In other updates, Command Sergeant Major Bryan Barker reminded everyone there is a greater risk of COVID-19 transmission off of the installation.

Barker added they see a majority of transmissions in group gatherings.

Officials also mentioned that Barkley Elementary School was closed earlier this week due to COVID-related cases and contact. This closure and other school closures have been because there are not enough teachers and staff, as the virus has spread among them.
