Five COVID-Linked Deaths Confirmed in Christian County Tuesday

Christian County Health Department officials are confirming five deaths related to the COVID-19 virus Tuesday.

Spokeswoman Amanda Sweeney said the deaths were an 89-year-old male, a 69-year-old male, a 71-year-old female, an 82-year-old male, and a 91-year-old female. All five had underlying health conditions.

Christian County has now seen 45 deaths related to the virus since the pandemic began in March and comes at a time when the county is approaching 500 active coronavirus cases for the first time. The number of Christian County residents above the age of 60 infected with the virus is at an all-time high this week.

This is a trend we are seeing across the state. The actions we take in the upcoming days will either help our community or hurt our community as we progress through COVID-19,” Sweeney said. “Please take preventative actions such as wearing your mask, washing your hands, and social distancing to prevent the spread of COVID-19.”
