Christian County magistrates approved a resolution to ask the state legislature to increase funding for state roads in the county during their virtual meeting Tuesday morning.
Judge-Executive Steve Tribble said magistrates approved a similar resolution when the current body took office early last year.
He added the new resolution is asking legislators to consider this as they head into their next session early next year.
Magistrate Rich Liebe said roads are deteriorating because of winter weather and heavy machinery that utilize them. He added some roads had been patched, and that is clearly not working.
Magistrate Jerry Gilliam said they have been trying to push tax reform.
Tribble reminded magistrates the passage of the resolution has no force of law. The resolution is simply asking legislators to find a solution and have the court’s support.
The resolution passed unanimously.
Magistrates also approved a grant that will help with the Ruff Park tennis court renovation project. The next fiscal court meeting on Wednesday morning, December 16, at 8:30.
