Todd County Man Charged After High-Speed Pursuit

An Elkton man was charged after he fled from law enforcement on Butler Road Sunday morning.

Todd County Sheriff’s deputies say they attempted to stop 24-year-old Hunter Blackford for driving 9 MPH over the speed limit, when he fled at a high rate of speed, before stopping and fleeing on foot into a field on Allegre Road.
Deputies reportedly caught up with Blackford as he attempted to cross a large ditch, he continued to not comply with their commands to stop deputies then used a taser before taking him into custody.
A search of Blackford’s belongings and vehicle allegedly led to spoons, syringes, and bags containing a residue believed to be meth.
Deputies say Blackford admitted to using half a gram of meth every 24 hours. He was arrested for first-degree fleeing or evading police, DUI, possession of meth, and first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer.
Blackford was also arrested on a warrant for failure to appear after he removed his ankle monitor device and would not answer the phone.
