State Not Cutting Funds for Trigg Schools This Year

Some good news was shared during Thursday night’s Trigg County School board meeting regarding state funding.

District Finance Officer Holly Greene told board members that Governor Andy Beshear had announced the state would not cut any budgets to districts this year.

Schools across the Commonwealth were told to expect up to an 8-percent budget cut of some funding sources.

Before making that announcement, Greene had said they would receive little to no funding from FEMA in regards to COVID-19 relief. That announcement was made by the Kentucky School Board Association earlier this week.

She added CARES Act funding had covered the expenses so far, so there is no impact on the General Budget.

Greene said this is not good for any school district, as this is the complete opposite of what was said would be covered by FEMA.

They will meet again on Thursday night, December 10, at 6:00. The second November meeting has been canceled since it would occur on Thanksgiving Day.
