PADD Still Serving Senior Meals Through Pandemic

Pennyrile Area Development District board members heard an update Monday afternoon concerning the Area Agency on Aging and Independent Living.

Amanda Stokes, Aging Planner/In-Home Services Manager, said they have been serving many seniors with meals through the COVID-19 meal program.

As of October 23, the program was serving nearly 700 clients, but that number has since risen by 35 and continues to increase. Stokes added any senior in Caldwell, Christian, Hopkins, Lyon, Todd, and Trigg counties are eligible to receive the meals.

As a part of their other programs through the pandemic, they have given out an additional nearly 97,000 meals to seniors in their nine-county service area.

Stokes said they had doubled their daily meal capacity since the pandemic began in mid-March.

In addition to the meals, the senior citizen centers are still providing some homemaking services.
