Kentucky set another record for the most COVID-19 cases in a day Thursday, with 80 counties in the red zone.
Governor Andy Beshear announced 2,318 cases and 20 deaths Thursday afternoon. He said the positivity rate has now risen to 6.5-percent. He added this is far too many cases.
Currently, 1,102 remain hospitalized with the virus, 291 are in the ICU, and 129 are on the ventilator.
Beshear said 80 counties across the state, including; Christian, Caldwell, Hopkins, and Lyon counties, need to follow their “red zone” recommendations next week.
Governor Beshear also announced Thursday afternoon the ABC board voted to allow 12-month relief for restaurants, bars, or temporary facilities across the Commonwealth that serve alcohol.
The wavier does not apply to producers, distributors, wholesalers, and others who were able to continue their operation during the COVID-19 shutdown.
